PASTOR TERESA GILLAND
I am a second-career pastor. After a long and enjoyable career as a software engineer, I clearly heard God calling me to seminary. Which one? God made it clear: Asbury Theological Seminary. I began my studies online and finished on the campus in Wilmore, Kentucky. I graduated with a Masters of Divinity in 2014. What I was to do after seminary was not quite as clear as my calling to seminary. The only thing that was clear was that God wanted me to minister to hurting people. I worked as a chaplain intern at Baptist Hospital in Pensacola for two semesters, and I think I would have been happy working there for my entire career, yet there was also a strong desire to preach God’s word. Long story, short, I love being the pastor in Samson, Alabama. I love the people in this church and I love the people in this town. I’m excited about what God is doing!
My husband Harold and I have been married for sixteen years. We have a blended family with six adult children; four of whom are married. We have twelve grandchildren. Our oldest grandchild was married last October and our youngest grandchild was born last November. Our children and grandchildren are spread out across the country – Boston, New York City, Knoxville, Nashville, Atlanta, Destin, and Denver. We also have three dogs: Maggie, Lima Bean, and Jasmine.
